Mystery Pageant

Lighting for the Mystery pageant
- Begin @ 3:30PM with subtle lighting on the chancel to illuminate the manger, and full bulb/candelabra in the sanctuary
- At 4:00 PM, when the organist is ready to play, lower the sanctuary bulbs to off, and lower the candelabra bulbs to halfway. This indicates the beginning of the pageant.
- At around 4:30, when the organist is done, the narrator begins to read the text from the back of the sanctuary (via hand-held mic)
- As the narrator begins to talk, slowly lower the chancel lighting to OFF, so that when Mary and Joseph come out it's a bit challenging to see who they are
- The angels begin to sing from the entryway.
- As Mary and Joseph take their place, plug-in the array of lights that is pointed to where they are located. Since the array of lights is connected to the manger light, both of them light up when the extension cord is plugged-in.
- As the angels make their way onto the chancel, slowly raise the chancel lighting to a comfortable "not-bright" level. Include the side-spots so that the wise men are lit and set all levels so that faces can be recognized.
- Leave these settings in place until the end of the pageant
- When the pageant is complete, raise the sanctuary bulbs and candelabra.
